As part of the MIraGE project, SwIdeas team in Sweden explored entrepreneurship and self-employment as potential areas of work and business opportunities, especially targeting newcomers in Sweden and those who want to kick-start their career and set up a business.
The main insights into the trajectory to opening up a business in Sweden include:

  • Gathering information about how to set up a business in Sweden at verksamt.se
  • Networking with other entrepreneurs to get to know the main obstacles and opportunities you might find
  • Develop a business idea, including deciding a company type, setting a budget plan, making a market analysis, and identifying funding opportunities
  • Identify opportunities for coaching and support
  • Understand the taxation system, as well as insurance and bookkeeping systems.
  • Among others.

The participants of the third country nationals (TCNs) training had first-hand insight into these, and were also introduced to the main curiosities and important things to know about the Swedish labour market, taxation system, and workplace.
